Kindus, A response initiative to covid-19

Introduction

Digital learning has been around for many years but did not have a huge user base or high usage up until covid-19 came along and forced people to seek it in fear of being exposed to disease. Many digital learning platforms existed at the time and most households being connected to the internet already made online learning much easier to implement.

Case Study

Libya has little to no online learning platforms, which made people resort to other foreign online alternatives with no idea on how to use them. This created an issue at a time where Libya is in dire need of exposing their youth to learning and education in order to provide a brighter future for this country and its people. Kindus was the name given to this initiative that initially started off as a response to the pandemic. The goal was to provide both public sector and private sector Libyan educational institutes with an online platform able to accommodate the needs of students and teachers, giving them full access to tools and a wide range of functionalities that would not usually be found on one platform or would be very costly.

The way we managed to put together this solution is through hard work and the dedication of our team members, combining both new written code with open source Edx code to create a multifunctional learning platform with endless capabilities. Teachers are able to post their lessons online in many different formats including: audio, video, powerpoint, PDF, Word and Excel documents. They are also able to add students to their classroom by username and quiz and grade each student individually. The Ministry OF Technical and Vocational Education Authority was one of our largest clients. With 45 institutes under it and 5 faculties. Kindus was used by this institute for a whole year.

This project has been put on hold due to the decline in demand for online learning post covid and the lack of initiative from the government to push for a digital transformation. However during lockdown our clients were very satisfied with our platform and services.
