Providing Tibisti hotel
with hotspot internet
Introduction
Tibisti hotel is one of the largest hotels in Libya and the largest in Benghazi. It overlooks the harbour of a lake in the city centre and is fifteen stories high with 242 rooms. The hotel being as big as it is becomes an issue when it comes to creating a network as there are many walls and numerous floors which make wireless communication much more difficult. Our goal was to cover the whole building with a speedy, reliable wireless internet connection.
Case Study
The hotel had a different ISP prior to us however had chosen to switch because of our higher internet speeds and POS system availability. Unfortunately the other ISP had a poorly laid out infrastructure and little to no documentation which made things much more time consuming on our end. We had to visit the site to check on what was available and if anything was missing. The hotel insisted we work with the equipment that they had already bought and expand on it. We took the previous equipment back to our company to test if it can run the desired configuration and set up a simulation network of the hotel. Once we had everything planned it was time to implement and we started from the ground up. We had to purchase more equipment because what we had to work with was insufficient to cover the entirety of the hotel.
The end result was very satisfactory for the client as they noticed a huge difference and upgrade in speed (20Mbps) and that the hotel was now very well covered. Even the hotel management offices were connected to the internet contrary to their previous state. Providing both wired and wireless connection types. We remain in contact with the hotel to this very day and regularly maintain the network and follow up with management.
